Pond Skimming 2010

Because of all the snow out here during the winter semester, it really limits the activities that BYU-Idaho offers.
However, Pond Skimming is a pretty big activity.
What is Pond Skimming?
According to the BYU-Idaho website... Pond Skimming is where an individual comes down a hill either using skis, snowboard or an airboard (an inflatable sled) and tries to "skim" across the cold pond of water without crashing.
Last night Anthony and I went to watch the Pond Skimming up on campus. I had no idea how big of a deal it was! There were a ton of people there. (We've both never been here during winter semester before, so we had no idea what it was all about. The contestants dress up in funny outfits and give themselves titles, so it pretty interesting. I kinda compare it to watching America's Funniest Home Videos. Most of the time it's pretty funny, and sometimes it's not funny at all, but there's also those times when it looks too painful to be funny.
Here is a video of last year's Pond Skimming highlights... Enjoy

Never knew there was such a thing! This looks fun and exciting, but it’s got to be so cold!
